How to replace an old toilet seat with a new one?
To replace your toilet seat, you should first check whether the toilet seat’s fixing is accessible from under the toilet ceramic.
● If the fixing is accessible from the bottom, it is probably a classic nut-and-bolt fixing. Despite the many different designs, the way of installing this kind of fixing is usually very similar: To loosen the fixing, simply unscrew the nut and then remove the toilet lid from the ceramic.
● If your toilet ceramic is completely closed at the bottom, the fixing will only be visible from above. To demount the toilet seat, you have to turn the screw on the top anti-clockwise. When doing this, part of the fixing might fall into the toilet ceramic. The cavity is big enough, though, and the part that has fallen inside won’t impede you during the installation of the new toilet lid. When buying the new toilet seat, make sure you get a model with a special top fixing.
